Gallia County Children’s Services Board is the public agency charged by law under the Ohio Revised Code to provide for the care and protection of abused, neglected, and dependent children in Gallia County. The mission of Gallia County Children’s Services is to protect the children of Gallia County from physical and emotional harm and to preserve families. We are committed to a partnership with the community that provides all children the right to grow and develop in a safe, nurturing, stable, and permanent family. Usually, services are provided to a family with the child remaining in the home, However, if necessary, a child may be removed from the home temporarily and placed with a relative or into a licensed foster home or group home. We then require the family to follow a court ordered caseplan in an attempt to reduce the risk factors and improve family well-being. Children, no matter what age, need a sense of belonging. Knowing that you have a family and a place to go is critical for healthy growth and development.
Gallia County Children's Services operates under an administrative board which consist of five individuals residing in Gallia county who are interested in the safety, strenthening and well-being of children and families. These individuals serve a term of four years and can be reappointed by the Gallia County Commissioners.
